At the Edge of the Burn

Goat’s Peak in Glenrosa burned in 2010. There were a number of years where hiking up there was not recommended after the fire and nor was it appealing to most people. It is slowly coming back to life and that part I witness year round. The view from the edge of the burn inspired this painting. I was standing at the top where the trees were spared by the fire. It had a beauty all its own. Unfortunately this is a view that is becoming more common with hotter summers. This fire was human started…..I am for the rejuvenation of the forest when it happens naturally. It saddens me when it is something preventable.
